2-24-2017 to 2-26-2017 - Back from Hawaii

So to be perfectly honest the kids didn't care that we were back home at all. It also hit me hard being back with the kids. We have only had them for 4 years of our 13 years of marriage and I definitely remember life without kids. It took me 2 days to get back to the happy mom mode instead of thinking they were a burden. I wasn't particularly happy about feeling like this, but once I realized it and faced it, the feeling went away.

Kids made a snowman while we were gone with Matt's parents.

Watching a lot of TV while being sleep deprived and Matt and I taking turns napping.

Watching Lion King during the weekend.

Me all by my lonesome having a kid pity party day, because it seemed like I didn't want any at the moment. Matt took the kids to his parents for the evening. By the time they came back, I was feeling like my mommy old self. Such a weird and eye opening realization for me.

Sunday was definitely a better day and we went to church in our Hawaiian clothes.

2-23-17 - Dole Plantation, Pearl Harbor and Fly Home

Last day in Hawaii. We packed up that morning and luckily got all the suitcase in the trunk since Chelsey and Hans bought a new set at the swap meet the day before. We were really good and playing tetris with the luggage.

We weren't flying out at 10pm that night and had the day to finish up what we wanted to do - Dole Plantation and Pearl Harbor.

We got to the Dole Plantation bright and early and enjoyed our last dole whip while walking through the maze. It kept us nice and cool while doing so. We also rode the pineapple express and got a history lesson about the plantation and items they grow on it.

After the Dole Plantation, we headed to the Pearl Harbor Monument. We had a 1pm reservation, but definitely should have just spend the entire day there. It was hard to process all the information in the short amount of time we had there.

We saw a documentary about Pearl Harbor. We went to the Arizona Memorial.

We also toured the Battleship Missouri.

We got to go onto the USS Bowfin Submarine.

We unfortunately missed the Pacific Aviation Museum as we ran out of time.

After Pearl Habor closed, we headed out to dinner one last time and ended up at a pizza place. It was pretty good food with the exception of needing to pay in cash.

We went through security at the airport and then headed our own ways since our flights took off from different parts of the airport.

We had a red-eye flight, which I thought would be fine. Wrong, I couldn't sleep and it had been over 10 years since I had flown a red-eye. Next time, we will just stay an extra night and enjoy the flight home.

We returned to a winter wonderland in Salt Lake. We also got rear-ended in Matt's parents car after Pops pick on the way back home. We had a fun vacation and thoroughly loved it and can't wait till our next one together.
