Fun in the Sun and Snow!

We were invited to go tubing at Gorgoza Park up Parley's Canyon, with David, Kristin, Katie, and Gracie, and some of Kristin's family on January 2nd.

This was going to be my first time tubing at a tubing park and I have to admit I was extremely excited. Matt went with his family during a family reunion in March 2009, but I wasn't able to ride the tubs, so I watched Eli.

Sledding is one of my favorite winter activities, so to go tubing I considered would be fantastic!

We started at 10:00am and went for 2 hours. We had such a blast. The sun was out. The temperatures were warm. And the SPEED from going down the tubing hills took my breath away, literally! After tubing, we went back and made pizzas at Kristin's parents house and the rest of her family joined us, including her grandparents. Matt tossed the pizza dough...he really did toss it too! It was fun for the kids to watch him along for the adults. We love hanging out with Kristin's family, they are just another extension of ours now.

Check out the pictures from our Fun in the Sun and Snow:

Date Night...January 10th

Before Matt started his first set of Graveyards, I asked him to take me on a date. We went to the Jordan River Temple and then out to ice cream at Leatherbys. Don't be jealous Chels, cause when you get here in a couple weeks, we can go again.

I always get the same thing when we go to Leatherbys, a banana split with only sherbet ice cream. For some crazy reason I switched and actually had two flavors of ice cream. Matt was surprised and so was I.

We took pictures with my phone of the occasion. Lets just say I am really glad we got our new smart phones, because they have great cameras on them and we always have our cellphones with us. Yeah, for technology.

Missing the nephews

My sister, Lyndsay and her family move around alot for her husband, David's, job. Currently, they are living in Texas.

Sometimes between locations they come and stay at my mom's to see our family. It was alot of fun to hang out with them through December and into January before they left on January 7th.

I miss being able to chase them and play with them, especially around bedtime because they would cuddle with me. I found a picture on my phone with them cuddling with me before their bedtime.

Also, while Lyndsay was here she sent me an old picture on her phone of the boys and Matt and I. They have grown up so much in the last year. Wish they were here, but I am very glad when they come to visit.

Cute video of Braxton and his laugh, which makes me laugh!

Christmas 2011

We had a lot of running around this year for Christmas.

We spent Christmas Eve with my family at a church, because no house can hold how big my family is with the cousins.

See for yourself in this video. Everyone in the family is there minus my sister's family and one cousin's family.

On Christmas morning, we went to my parents' house bright and early to open of presents.
Matt got Big Bang Theory from Jakers for Christmas.

My mom opening the present I made for her.

My mom opening the present I made for her.

Jayden opening his presents.

Jayden got a stool and puzzles from us.

Braxton was so excited for his presents, a stool and puzzle.

Braxton was so excited about his stool he kept on kissing it. He just kept on kissing the stool. It probably helped that everyone laughing at him.

My Christmas Picture with Jayden.

After opening gifts, we had breakfast with my family. We then left to go listen to Matt's mom sign in the choir.
We spent the rest of the day at Matt's parents. Eating, opening presents, having fun with the nurf guns, and playing with the new Ipad that Matt's mom got for Christmas.

Matt was making faces into the Ipad with the Photo Booth App.

Some Monson boys playing with technology. (Pops, Eli, and Mitch)

We got a photo scanner for Christmas.
I have been wanting to scan all the negative
from our childhood and put them on CDs.

Monson boys with Matt. We got them Matchbox trucks that came with cars.

We gave Pops some cookie dough, since he likes to eat sweets so much.
We gave a wreath to Matt's mom.
She also got a couple pictures and a penguin.

Christmas Time Getaway

This year for Christmas Time, Matt and I went to a little getaway to the Alaska Inn in Ogden Canyon, on December 22nd. We had a little cabin to ourselves for the evening. We started with a dinner at Cafe Rio. The cabin was a nice getaway from the hum drum of the regular life.

When we arrived to our cabin, we had cookies on the table and sparkling cider on ice.

Here are some pictures of the Cabin:

On our way home down Ogden Canyon, we drove by the a beautiful frozen waterfall. It was such a beautiful site, we stopped and got out to take a picture. We froze the instant we got out of the car, but we still got the picture.

We had a lovely time and will probably make it a Christmas tradition!

Baby Changing Table

Ever since we got a baby crib, I have been looking for a changing table to go with it. I've had a perfect style in mind and didn't want to pay more than $100.00 for it. For the past 2 years or so, I have been looking on KSL for it. I finally found the changing table I was looking for and Matt went and got it for me on December 22nd. He got the changing table for $90.00.

Here is my perfect changing table.

It is about the same color as the crib. I have been saying "If you have it, the baby will come."
Kind of the same thinking from the movie, Field of Dreams, saying, "If you build it, they will come."

We still have HOPE that we will get a baby soon!
Praying for you to come into our lives soon!

Christmas Crafts

This year for Christmas, we decided to make as many Christmas presents as possible to do something different. I haven't wanted to post any of the projects until after Christmas.

Now that it is after Christmas, I thought I would post the crafts that we did this year.

For most of the nieces and nephews, we decided to make stools for them. I painted the base coat of the stools and then Matt drew the pictures on the stools, so I could paint them. They turned out absolutely adorable.

We created 8 stools this year.

 Frogs for Parker and Jairus
Flowers for Talitha and Kasiah
 Dump Truck for Jayden
Frog for Braxton
Lady Bug for Kate
Butterfly for Grace (missing in picture)

My friend, Sami, showed me a wreath made of Tulle about 4 months ago and I thought it was cute, so I decided to make Tulle wreaths for Christmas for my mom and Matt's mom. It took 3 yards of Tulle for each wreath. I tied my mom's and Matt tied his mom's. I put some flowers in the wreaths and here is how they turned out.

 Sunflowers for my mom.

Green for Matt's mom. I am not sure what the flowers are called.

I also painted my mom a sunflower and Matt was nice enough to hold it for a picture.
Since we were missing Arlee for Christmas, I decided to make her a tutu and send it with my mom to Washington.  Arlee seems to love the tutu, because Chelsey posted on her blog. Here is a picture of Arlee in the tutu.
