2-16-2017 - Travel Day to Hawaii

Our flight for Hawaii left around 11:55 am, so I was able to walk Kara to preschool and remind her that she would be picked up by Little Bonka (Matt's Mom) when preschool was over.

We finished getting ready to leave when Matt's parents arrived to hangout with Logan. Matt's dad drove us to the airport.

In the car heading to the airport.

I got a bit excited when we got closed to the airport and I saw an airplane taking off. Matt got my excitement on video. I was excited to be flying without kids, since we had taken our 2 previous trips with kids.

Us on the airplane. We had a direct flight to Oahu. A full 7 hours. We each had our own TV Screen in front of us and were able to watch whatever we wanted to. It was fantastic!

Our first ever view of some of the Hawaiian Islands. It was a pretty clear day and my first time ever flying over the ocean.

Some pictures of the islands while we were flying over them.

ALOHA greeted us as we went down the escalator to find our baggage. It was so humid and hot that I went straight for the bathroom to change into capris. I don't enjoy being hot at all.

Matt took alot of videos during our trip and videoed me almost walking into the door. See below.

Chelsey and Hans arrived 3 hours before us, so they picked up the rental car and hung out a bit waiting for us, so we could all head out to the rental place together.

We were all starving so we headed to a place called Me's BBQ. It was okay food. The kicker was they only took cash. Matt and I hadn't figured on using any cash so Chelsey had to by our dinner that night. Also, we forgot to bring our debit card that we knew the pin number for so Chelsey and Hans ended up being our ATM on the trip too. Lesson - take cash on vacation and make sure you have the correct debit card. It all worked out in the end.

We found a parking spot by a park and ate our dinner on a picnic table.

Chelsey climb the first tree she could.

Beautiful flowers along the roadway, on our way to Costco for our grocery trip.

We got to our place after dark and we were all pretty beat, so we just went to bed. Below are pictures of the place we rented through Airbnb. It was a nice enough place and pretty central to where we wanted to travel. The beds were pretty nice, but we definitely weren't use to the humidity, they only had window AC units, and the neighbors were doing construction on the house next door which started every morning at 7am.

But we made it to Hawaii in one piece and we ready to party and have fun together!
