Well, in anticipation of having a baby the next day, and being 39 weeks pregnant I didn't sleep the best.
Monday, March 23rd - 6am came
I called the hospital and they said it had been a crazy night, so to call back at 7am. I called my mother-in-law to tell her not to come yet.
I jumped into the shower to stay awake and then waited for the clock to reach 7am.
7am -
Called the hospital again. Nurse shift change. They said to call back at 8am. Went and got breakfast. Called my mother-in-law to not come yet. Waited for 8am
8am -
Called the hospital again. Nurse said they would call me and it would be sometime in the next couple of hours. Matt finally woke up and asked if we were suppose to go to the hospital. I told him we were now waiting for a call from them. Gave him my phone and told him they would call and that I was taking a nap.
9:30am
I woke up from a very nice nap. Asked Matt if they had called. He said no and handed me my phone. He had turned it on silent somehow and the hospital had called twice to say they were ready. I was a little upset with Matt thinking they wouldn't be able to induce me since I was not responding to the call. Called the hospital and they said to come on in. I told them we would be there in 1/2 hour. Called my mother-in-law to come watch Kara.
10:01am
Left for the hospital in a bit of a hurry. Waved good bye to Kara and my mother-in-law as we pulled out of the garage.
10:15am
10:15am
- Got to the hospital. Went in a bit nervous and checked in with the nurses.
- Shown our room for Logan's birth.
- Got dressed for my hospital stay.
- Pitocin was started.
- Went to the bathroom.
- Started feeling contractions.
- Asked for the epidural. The anesthesiologist showed up, Steve Johnson. I actually remember his name and will forever as our friends are naming their baby Steve Johnson. Got the epidural while sitting up, which was different because with Kara I was laying on my back. Dr Steve Johnson told Matt told come and hold my hands to help distract me. I told him "no I don't want him to. His hands are too hot." The room laughed.
- After the epidural, I dilated pretty fast and had lots of pain, so Dr. Steve Johnson came back in again to give me a direct booster.
- Pretty soon after that, my wonderful doctor was called to see if she was at the hospital to deliver the baby. She was out to lunch and she told the nurses to call her when I was ready. Well, they walked right back out of the room and told her I was ready.
- She came everything was set up and then I started pushing. I got really light headed after one round of pushing so I was on oxygen after that. I pushed maybe for 10 minutes and Dr. Langer said the baby was here. I also had to have an episiotomy.
- I had my eyes closed the whole time, because I think it is gross until they clean me up and the baby. So Matt saw Logan come out with the cord wrapped around his neck. They quickly got it off and got him breathing.
- After they got him breathing, they put him on my stomach and my first words and reaction were "Yuck!" Yep that's exactly what I said. No hiding the fact. Matt also thought he had a monkey face when he came out, so no big deal. Real life and real reactions.
- So our newest baby showed up at 2:29pm weighing 8 lbs 4oz.
