5/6/2015 - We started prepping the backyard like crazy the day after I was released for normal activity from having delivered Logan. We started with the weeding and only did a small portion before I had Matt rent a tiller and till up the backyard. We spent everyday smoothing out the ground and getting rid of the rocks until the dirt was delivered on 5/11/2015.
5/11/2015 - Dirt was delivered. We ordered 3 dump truck loads. We only had them deliver the first 2 loads until we could clear the driveway. We had two wheel barrows and 2 shovels to start off with. Best workout I had in a couple months for 3 or 4 days straight. The kids around the neighborhood loved the very large dirt pile that took up our entire driveway. We had some help from my mom and Matt's mom. They either watched the kids or helped shovel a bit while Matt made the rounds with the wheel barrows.
5/13/2015 - This was such a beautiful sight to see a clean driveway NOT full of dirt, until 30 minutes later when the 3rd dump truck load came. I about cried about having to shovel more loads of dirt. We were racing a storm that was approaching in the forecast and also Matt having to return to work. So we called a couple neighbors for help that day and poof it was gone alot faster than just me and Matt working on it. We got all the dirt in the backyard in mounds and then it started raining and rained for days. Matt wasn't able to smooth out the entire backyard until 5/20/2015 and the grass was suppose to be there on 5/22/2015.
5/22/2015 - Grass arrived in the morning and we planned to lay it the next day but the forecast didn't look very promising so we sent out a text for help and started installing that afternoon. We had pizza first and then went to work. Big hands of help from our neighbors/friends the Pehrsons and Alan. My family also came to help - Shawn, Dane, and Danielle. Kali helped me keep an eye on ALL the kids.
5/23/2015 - First BBQ in out newly sodded backyard.
6/25/2015 to 7/2/2015- Fence was installed and completed before Logan's baby blessing.
So glad this was finally complete after almost 3 years in the house. Matt worked endlessly to prep the backyard, we had multiple friends and family help, and now we have a place for Kara and Logan to play.
Only thing left is the South side of the house for garden boxes and concrete. Maybe in a couple years for the concrete. Garden boxes go in next year, so we can have a fresh garden to eat yummy tomatoes and maybe fresh green beans.
