This is the Place Heritage Park had their free day on Thursday, June 9th that the Huntsman family sponsors every year. They even provide free ice cream to everyone. I was a bit apprehensive about going because free days are so busy usually, but decided to try it anyway. I had planned for Matt to go with us, but he ended up having his interview at the U of U hospital and then had to work at Mountain Medical. So I invited Matt's parents to get them out of the house and Kali to come with us too.
I wanted to be there early and right when it opened at 10am, but I fought with the kids to get them out the door and we left a little bit late. When we got there, there was a huge line to get into the park. I thought oh boy what did I sign up for.
Well, the line wasn't too bad and we got a good parking spot. We meet Matt's parents in the parking lot and actually were able to meet Matt for an hour after his interview and before work. Kara was surprised to see him and it was nice to eat ice cream with him before he had to leave.
After Matt left, we headed to the train. We rode the train up to the Native American part of the park, while Kali and Kyla walked.
Kids waited in line for the train and got to the front of the line and the train broke down. While we waited in line, a butterfly decided to land on Kara's head. While we waited for the train to take a break, we went and ate lunch. After lunch, we rode the small train and then headed down to the splash pad to cool off.
Video - Logan's first splash pad. He loved it.
Matt's parents wondered into the sweets store and came to the splash pad with a supply of goodies. The kids loved coming to them for sweets and then running to play in the water.
After the splash pad, we saw that the pony ride line was short and decided to wait in line. Well it took 1/2 an hour at least to get the kids' turn. But they sure did like it.
