Ice Castles 1-27-14

Well we saw Frozen and I totally loved the movie. So we had to go see the ice castles in Midway. We heard mixed reviews from a couple different friends, so we tried to prepare well.

We didn't go on a weekend.
We made sure to wear boots, at least Kara and I did.
We dressed really warm.
We saw the ice castles in the light and at night.
We pre-bought our tickets.

We went on Monday, January 27th. We left our house at 4:30 pm and arrive in Midway and parked just after sunset. We hurried and got Kara bundled up walked past the ticket booth since we pre-bought our tickets and explored the world of ice.

We were there about 45 minutes all together. We left as it was getting too crowded and we were hungry. We got back to the car and I nursed Kara while Matt looked for a restaurant in Heber. We ended up eating at Spin Cafe in Heber. The food was pretty good, but it took for every to get it. It took about 25 minutes for my steak to come out and I even ordered it medium well and not well. The broccoli was the best part. Best I have tasted thus far.

We had an enjoyable family night out. We watched a movie when we got home after putting Kara down for the night.

Birthday #32...

Or as I say 27. No I am not denying my age or anything like that. When I had Kara, she set my mind back to 26 as I always wanted a baby by the time I was 25, so years I have lived on the earth 32. Age my mind thinks I am 27.

So it was an interesting week surrounding my birthday.

January 9th - Went and shot some hoops at the church before a basketball game. As I can't play until my knee heals up.

January 10th - I was able to go to the Temple to do a session with Turkey and Alan. It was really emotional both good and bad. Glad Turkey was with me as I needed her there.

January 12th - We had family dinner at Kali's house, since my mom was in Neveda with my sister, Lyndsay, waiting for Lilly to come.

January 13th - We (Kali, Leili, Matt, Kara, and I) went sledding for the 2nd time this year. Love sledding.

January 14th (Birthday) - Relaxing day with family! I got to sleep in later than expected because Kara was fantastic. Matt gave me a birthday present of a water bottle, slippers, and 2 movies. Cleaned the house a little and also went for a walk outside while Matt cut his hair. We went out and bought baby gates for Kara. We had a celebration dinner at Outback Steakhouse, because I craved steak the night before. We also got to go out to a movie, Frozen, because Matt's mom came and watched Kara. Plus the best news, I got a new niece on my birthday, Lilly. Such a better year than last year's car accident and spending it in the hospital.

New Years Eve and Day 2014

Well once again we had our time honored tradition of spending New Years Eve with our Elswoods. We arrived a little early and gave the kids their Christmas presents as we couldn't meet up before than due to illnesses.

We have smoked meat, which I actually couldn't get enough of. We chatted while the kids watched a movie and the boys hung out in the kitchen. I got to cuddle with my Katie during the movie and she ended up falling asleep on me. I loved it!

After the kids went to bed, we ended up playing a game. The Elswood's neighbors, Ahles, joined us, so we were boys against girls. We ended up missing the ball drop for New Years, but were only 8 minutes late in realizing. We stopped our game and some bubble. Sella Ahles ended up waking up shortly after throwing up. Poor baby. We ended up finishing the game up around 1am.  The boys ended up winning as they had an extra person, but maybe next time.

New Years Day was spent relaxing mostly. We had a little bit later breakfast, okay Matt and I did as we slept in until 9am. We ate homemade egg, sausage, biscuits. Matt, David, Grace, and Kate played with Legos after breakfast. Matt and I ended up leaving after Kara's morning nap.

We had a fun time as we do every year!

Katie was telling him everything that was happening.
(He hadn't seen it yet.)

Kara's first picture in 2014. Our room at the Elswoods.

Kara decided to wake up and show me she could click her tongue while we were at the Elswoods. It amazes me so much to find out what she learns on her own. I am glad I get to watch her grow.

Young at heart. Legos for all ages.

Our little Mozart

Kara got a piano for Christmas and boy does she like to jam out on it.

Ready...set...action in December

Jumping Bean

Matt dresses Kara in this outfit. I didn't like the sleeves on it, but love her toy in her mouth. She reminds me of the a gargoyle off a Disney movie.

Kara watching her dad out the window shoveling the snow.

One of her favorite things to play with in the kitchen.

My family Christmas party. We changed it up this year and had it on the Saturday before Christmas. My Gram, which is Kara's great-gram gave her a blanket.

This year for Christmas, I wanted to make my Gram a memory book with memories from her grandkids and great grandkids. It took alot of reminding and coaxing, but in the end it turned out great and Gram loved the book, which was the best part of all. (Thanks cousins for the pics and memories!)

One of the rare instances that Kara cuddled with me. To bad she was sick in order to do it though.

I was sitting at the computer working and Matt brings out Kara dressed like this. He said she looks exactly like Wonder Woman. Only Matt could be so geeky.
