The waiting game...

Due date Thursday, March 21st...delivery date 8 days past due on Friday, March 29th.

Playing the waiting game...Matt started his leave on Thursday, March 21st thinking we would have the baby soon, so each day we would wake up and he would ask, "Have you felt anything yet?" Meaning any contractions, and I would always get to say, "Nope, what are we going to do today?"

So each day we found something to do...going to museums, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Church History Museum. Going for walks at This is the Place Monument and the International Peace Gardens. Going to his parents and hanging out while he played Epic Mickey. Going to the movies, G.I Joe and Safe Haven. Going for a drive up Emigration Canyon, visiting the Salt Lake Cemetery, and driving through the avenues and surrounding areas. Hanging out with my family.

We had 8 days of staying close to home in case the contractions started, but trying to find something to do so we weren't to far away.

We saw this chair at the Daughters of the Pioneers Museum. It is for potty training.
Matt and I are both glad we have flushing toilets.

We went to 2 different cemeteries, one by chance, and the other to see
Matt's grandparents grave at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
We ended up finding Porter Rockwell's as well.

Movie time - - great distraction when you are waiting for a baby to come.
On Wednesday, March 27th, we went to This is the Place Monument and got in before the prices double for the summer season due to the "Baby Animals" season. We still got to see the baby animals and pet them too, which took me awhile to get up the courage to do so.

We even got to ride on the train around the pioneer village,
which turned out perfect cause I was tired of walking .

Thursday, March 28th, we got to play with Arlee and Lydia as they arrived that day. Fun as I didn't feel up to much after having had Kara.

Getting ready...setting up her room

Where to begin? Kara is now 18 days old and we can't imagine life without her!

Lets start from the beginning...

I was due on Thursday, March 21st, but Kara decided to wait and show up 8 days later, with having to be induced. Will get to that story in a bit.

I stopped working on Tuesday, March 5th, because I was worried about going early and wanted to make sure everything was completed at work and I also needed to make sure I got everything situated at home. I become a neat freak.

I hadn't put anything away for the baby since Christmas, so I had a whole room full of items that needed to be organized, washed, and placed accordingly. Fortunately, Kristin came and helped me on a Friday night that we made into a girl's night of going to dinner, washing and folding laundry, and watching a movie.

So needed her help and girl time!

Here is the video of our second bedroom where we kept all the baby items we received. It was a long process to get everything put away.
Here is the room with everything finally put away! We got the bed so Matt's mom could stay with me the week before I was due in case I went into labor. Well, that didn't happen, but it is a great place for Matt to sleep on his days on, so Kara and I can stay in our bedroom and not wake Matt up.

Baby Showers

We had so much support from everyone our baby was showered with love and support.

I ended up having 4 baby showers - my family, friends, work, and Matt's family. I loved coming home to Matt after the showers and watching him opening the gifts after I had already seen them and telling him about each shower.

First shower was a family shower on Saturday, February 2nd. I was glad that two our of my 3 sisters were able to be there.
Chelsey, Kali, and my mom had fun putting together everything for my shower.
Everything looked great!

Second shower was a friend shower on Saturday, February 16th. It was nice seeing so many friends at one time as I hadn't seen some for awhile. /(Have to get actual pictures from Turkey)

Third shower was a work shower on Saturday, February 23rd. It snowed that day and delayed some people from being able to come, but we had fun playing games and seeing people outside of work. (Have to get actual pictures from a co-worker)

My last day at work my boss gave me his "gift" and this is what I came home with.
It almost made me cry. He was so supportive and great throughout my pregnancy!
Fourth shower was a shower from Matt's family on Saturday, March 2nd. I got to see Matt's family that I knew and celebrate in the joy that we were finally going to have a little one of our own. (Have to get the pictures from my mother-in-law)

Fantastic 31st Birthday...or NOT

So this year, I turned 31. Nothing fantastic about the number or anything memorable about it. Right? WRONG! Will never for get this birthday.

Matt was on his 7 days off during my birthday which fell on a Monday, January 14th, so we decided we would have a relaxing weekend.

We went to the temple for a session on Saturday, January 12th. I was excited, because I had been to sick to do a session and was feeling really good. Well I almost didn't fit in my temple dress, which made me hot, but we still enjoyed the session.

On Sunday, January 13th, we went to my mom's for mine and Kasiah's birthday dinner. Dinner was good and we stayed until past 8 pm. This was also the coldest day of the winter season so far. So we left to go home and relax with a movie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, before going to bed.

Well on the way home, within a mile of my parents house, we got into a car wreck. A work utility van decided to turn left out of a residential subdivision right in front of us. Matt couldn't slow down and we hit them on out drivers side. No air bags deployed but the damage was done. We were going 35 miles an hour and the car wasn't drive able. We pulled the car into the neighborhood and waited for the cop to arrive, which took an hour. My mom in the mean time came over to let us sit in her car and get all the items out of our car.

After filling out the police report, we went to the hospital for me and the baby to be checked out. Well a 4 hour visit, turned into an over night stay to make sure the baby was alright. We spent most of Monday, January 14th (my birthday) at the hospital. So much fun being monitored.

The bright side was the baby was fun and we got more ultra sound pictures of the baby at 31 weeks along.

We left the hospital and went home so I could shower and go to the DMV to get my license renewed as it expired that day. Never wait till the last minute to get your license renewed as you never know what can happen.

We were suppose to go to dinner with the Elswoods', but Kristin came up with an even better idea of bring us dinner to our house, so I could just relax.

Turning 31 was way too eventful for me!
