10-29-2016 - Halloween Parties

A day of parties. We headed over to the Library for a Halloween bash. We stayed for about an hour before we headed over to Kyla's first birthday.

Kyla's birthday bash was monster themed. Kali did a really great job for it and put her personality into it. Meaning it was decorated, everything went together, and it was cutesy.

Leili, Kara, and Mason watched Kyla.

Kara being a monster. Yes, Kali made these.

Logan being a monster.

So this has nothing to do with a party, but I did a little party dance when I got this in the mail. I won tickets to "A Christmas Carol" at Hale Center theater. Love going on dates with Matt especially when they don't cost anything and these tickets are a bit expensive.

10-28-2016 - Fun with Elswoods

Halloween Date with the Elswoods. Kids, jobs, travel distance, and schedules seem to make it hard to get together, but we were able to this night. We had dinner together.

The kids attempted to watch a show together. Grace picked out Hocus Pocus. I was willing to try letting the kids watch it, but as soon as the witches showed up Kara said it was too scary.

They ended up turning on Peter Pan. Half way through Peter Pan, we decorated sugar cookies. Kara loved it as I don't think she has ever done it before. I am not the best at making them or have the patience to make the dough, roll it out, cut out the figures, back them, and then frost them. Just typing the steps makes it seem like too long.

Kara had way too much icing on her plate and just ended up eating the frosting. I don't blame her as it was good frosting. She did end up getting stomach ache though.

Logan really enjoyed the icing on his cookie too.

We had a fun night hanging out.

10-26-2016 - Playgroup Halloween party

Well, it was playgroup day and we had decided at the last minute a week before to put on a Halloween party. Playgroup is at 10am, so Matt and I worked out in the morning. Logan and Kara played for the 1/2 hour P90x3 workout that we did that morning.

In this picture, they are driving a car. I love their imaginations and enjoy capturing the different moments if I am fast enough.

We walked over to play group. Logan didn't dress up but Kara did for a good part of it. Logan was so tired that all he wanted to do was to sit in the stroller and have a tootsie pop. I am okay with suckers but don't enjoy the stickiness that comes with them.

I tried matching Kara's Minnie Mouse costume with Minnie Mouse hair and a pink shirt.

We made Ghost tootsie pops for a craft.

We also had a smorgasbord of a luncheon. It worked out pretty well with everyone bringing something to share. The kids had fun and the moms were able to talk a bit.

After playgroup, we had nap time of course. Logan was a totally different and happy little boy after he woke up. He found Kara's old hat and had fun making faces at me while Kara was still asleep.

Hanging out with the pumpkins after walking to the mailbox.

10-25-2016 - Making a flapper dress and playing at Bonka's

Murder Mystery Party set in the 1920s - calls for a flapper dress, right? Well I thought so, and since I couldn't find one that fit nicely or that was modest enough, I decided to make one.

I found a dress at the DI. I found the fringe at Joann's. I found a person to sew - my mother-in-law.

We spent about 2 hours sewing the fringe on. It was a bit difficult since the dress would get caught up and sewn together so, she had to unpick it a couple times.

While she sewed, I chatted with her and kept an eye on Logan. Kara was down for a nap as she was tired and ornery.

Logan enjoyed playing in the ironing board closet in the laundry room immensely.

We took a break after Kara woke up from her nap to play frisbee and to be outside while Matt's dad talked to his brother.

Finished product. What do you think? It was fun and cute.

10-24-2016 - Kara's first preschool field trip

Kara had her first preschool field trip. We went to the library for story time. It was a bit harder for the kids since it was right at naptime, but we did okay. Kara loved listening to the stories. Logan was a different story. Get it?!?

We had a craft after story time and then trick-or-treated around the library.

All in all a quick 45 minutes, but 1st field trip or many in our lives to come.

Here is also a picture of the finished product for our painted pumpkins.
