Loescher Reunion 6-22-2013

Every year during the summer there is a Loescher Reunion for Matt's mom's family. This year it was up at Cherry Hill. But Matt had to work, so I drove up with Matt's parents. I actually did the driving as it is easier than transferring all of Kara's stuff. Kara loved being outside and pretty much didn't sleep except in her cousin's, Trevor's arms.

It was nice to be outside and hanging out with Matt's family. Matt's sister, Kristine, and her kids, Kaylynn, Kim, and Trevor came also. (I probably misspelled all the names?!?)

Kara did fantastic and loved being outside, but she sure was a pill coming home and trying to get to sleep. Matt's dad rocked her car seat pretty much for a half hour all the way home.

Until next year, maybe the entire Monson family will be there...We missed Mitch and his family along with Brian and his family.

Happy 1st Father's Day Matt!

Well it was official. Matt had his first Father's Day as a DAD! Matt even had the day off from work so it worked out we got to hang out with him the whole day.

He does a fantastic job with Kara. He loves to tease her and tell her he loves her and kisses her until she gets mad (only when she is hungry or tired though).

Kara gave Matt some practical items for Father' Day. A couple of white dress shirts, a Superman shirt (as he is such a super dad), a teenage mutant ninja turtle shirt, a movie of Kermit's first years (so Matt and Kara can watch when she is a little older), and a sleeping mask.

Matt had Kara the whole time during church as it was his day. He even took her to priesthood with him. I felt out of place with out her with me in Relief Society, but it was fine.

We went over to Matt's parents to visit with them before dinner at my parents. We got his dad a huge thing of nuts as he is such a nut himself.

Matt's dad fell asleep while we were there. Such an old guy thing.

We had dinner at my parents and gave my dad some rope. Long story, but very useful for him.

Well Mattie...Happy Father's Day. I couldn't have wished for a better husband or dad for my itty bitty. I know it has been a long journey getting to the point where we are parents now, but it feels so natural with you by my side. You and Kara are the only two things I need in the world and with your help being a parent is going to be a fun adventure!

Family Day Out 6-15-2013

Well we decided to family day out on Saturday, June 15 to help celebrate Father's Day. We decided we wanted to go hiking. Well, we were going to hike to Twin Lakes up by Brighton Ski Resort, but changed our minds after a very late start with Kara due to a less than fantastic night.

We got up to Silver Lake around 1pm and Kara was going to need to eat around 2:30, so we thought we would just hike around the lake, come back eat lunch, feed Kara, and then go back out for the Twin Lake hike. Lets just say my body wasn't quite up to it after having only been 10 weeks out from just delivering Kara. So we hiked the lake, fed Kara in the car, ate at a picnic table by the lake, and then headed back down the canyon to go to the sidewalk art festival at the Gateway.

We ended up meeting up with Kali, Shawn, and Leili to walk the art festival. It took less than an hour and was quite impressive. Kali and Shawn left after we were done, but Matt and I braved going out to dinner with Kara for the first time. Well she was fantastic! We ate at the California Pizza place and it was delicious!

What a fun first family trip out together. Oh by the way, Kara, loves the outdoors and be able to look around. It kinda sucks as she won't go to sleep and is kinda hard to put down at night, but well worth it.

Gracie's Dance Recital

I missed Gracie's Dance recital this year, due to the fact that kids under the age of 5 aren't allowed in to watch. So I was going to babysit Katie, Parker, and Kara while everyone else watched and then we would spend the night at the Elswoods'.

Well a couple of sick kids changed the plans, so only Mattie went up to watch his little Gracie who isn't so little anymore. From what I heard she was quite broken up that Matt was coming home to Kara and me and not staying up for a sleep over. To little girls now have his heart a 6 year old and a 3 month old.
