Logan hospital stay

Kara was the first visitor to the hospital after she got up from her nap and had some dinner. She of course couldn't drive herself, so my mom brought her and Kali snuck a ride over as well.

Kara came on both the 23rd and 24th to see us in the hospital. She got kinda bored on the second day and took to swinging on the curtains. Hyper and energetic little girl.  She also sat with me on the bed and watched a movie we put on for her.

We had other visitors while we were there but totally were horrible at taking pictures of everyone who came.

We stayed 2 nights as just to get acquainted with Logan without hyper Kara. It was nice that we chose to do so as we had our time with just him. We walked the halls alot to get exercise and not to go stir crazy. The whole time we were walking the hall, we were trying to come up with his name. Nothing sounded right and we didn't really have our hearts set on any particular name.

He also had his firsts. First bath, first walk (around the hospital hallways)

First Outfit-

I also caught a picture of Matt sleeping while I was up with Logan.

My view of Logan from my bed-

It took us until we were ready to walk out of the hospital before Matt filled out the birth certificate with his name. We told Kara before we announced to everyone else what we had decided.

Logan Matthew - March 23rd

I was suppose to get a call on Sunday night (March 22nd) after 6pm to let me know when to go in for the induction, but I didn't get a call, so I called. They said to call the next morning at 6am.

Well, in anticipation of having a baby the next day, and being 39 weeks pregnant I didn't sleep the best.

Monday, March 23rd - 6am came
I called the hospital and they said it had been a crazy night, so to call back at 7am. I called my mother-in-law to tell her not to come yet.
I jumped into the shower to stay awake and then waited for the clock to reach 7am.
7am -
Called the hospital again. Nurse shift change. They said to call back at 8am. Went and got breakfast. Called my mother-in-law to not come yet. Waited for 8am

8am -
Called the hospital again. Nurse said they would call me and it would be sometime in the next couple of hours. Matt finally woke up and asked if we were suppose to go to the hospital. I told him we were now waiting for a call from them. Gave him my phone and told him they would call and that I was taking a nap.

9:30am
I woke up from a very nice nap. Asked Matt if they had called. He said no and handed me my phone. He had turned it on silent somehow and the hospital had called twice to say they were ready. I was a little upset with Matt thinking they wouldn't be able to induce me since I was not responding to the call. Called the hospital and they said to come on in. I told them we would be there in 1/2 hour. Called my mother-in-law to come watch Kara.

10:01am
Left for the hospital in a bit of a hurry. Waved good bye to Kara and my mother-in-law as we pulled out of the garage.

10:15am

  • Got to the hospital. Went in a bit nervous and checked in with the nurses.
  • Shown our room for Logan's birth.
  • Got dressed for my hospital stay.
  • Pitocin was started.
  • Went to the bathroom.
  • Started feeling contractions.
  • Asked for the epidural. The anesthesiologist showed up, Steve Johnson. I actually remember his name and will forever as our friends are naming their baby Steve Johnson. Got the epidural while sitting up, which was different because with Kara I was laying on my back. Dr Steve Johnson told Matt told come and hold my hands to help distract me. I told him "no I don't want him to. His hands are too hot." The room laughed.
  • After the epidural, I dilated pretty fast and had lots of pain, so Dr. Steve Johnson came back in again to give me a direct booster.
  • Pretty soon after that, my wonderful doctor was called to see if she was at the hospital to deliver the baby. She was out to lunch and she told the nurses to call her when I was ready. Well, they walked right back out of the room and told her I was ready.
  • She came everything was set up and then I started pushing. I got really light headed after one round of pushing so I was on oxygen after that. I pushed maybe for 10 minutes and Dr. Langer said the baby was here. I also had to have an episiotomy.
2:29pm
  • I had my eyes closed the whole time, because I think it is gross until they clean me up and the baby. So Matt saw Logan come out with the cord wrapped around his neck. They quickly got it off and got him breathing.
  • After they got him breathing, they put him on my stomach and my first words and reaction were "Yuck!" Yep that's exactly what I said. No hiding the fact. Matt also thought he had a monkey face when he came out, so no big deal. Real life and real reactions.
  • So our newest baby showed up at 2:29pm weighing 8 lbs 4oz.

Logan's arrival -

Logan was due on Kara's birth date of March 29. I was okay with that until up the the end as I wanted to be home for Kara's birthday and also to be available for Easter the next week. My sister Chelsey was coming into town on March 27 with her family and was going to throw a birthday party for her girls on Sunday, March 29th, so I wanted to be there and also celebrate Kara's birthday. Chelsey stays at my mom's and my mom was going to watch Kara, so I didn't want it to be too hectic and I wanted Kara to sleep in her crib at home. I wanted her routine to stays as normal as possible before we brought a new baby home. Plus Matt's work schedule was a bit hectic to work around as he doesn't get paid vacation or sick time due to him working 7 days on and 7 days off.

Well with that said and my mind trying to plan things and dealing with being told I was walking around dilated to a 5 since March 4th and I could go anytime. On March 18th at my doctor appointment, I asked my doctor if I could be induced on March 23rd instead of what had been planned on for March 27th.

She okay'd the induction and said it would actually be better that way she would for sure be able to deliver the baby.

So we planned for March 23rd. So nice to cut the wait time to 5 days instead of 9 days.

I swam my last mile on Saturday, March 21st.

Went to church on March 22nd and family dinner and planned to deliver Logan on Monday, March 23rd.

Here we go...time to play catch-up

So Logan finally arrived...8 weeks ago and I am finally down to Blogging on my to do list as Logan, Kara, and Matt sleep.

Matt has been working hard at getting our backyard ready for grass. It takes alot of time especially with the rain coming every time he can work. He has also picked up 3 extra shifts since Logan was born which is a lot.

Kara is sick with a cold and it hasn't slowed her down at all. She just screams "boogies" runs over for a tissue for me to wipe her nose, and then continues on full speed. The only problem is that she doesn't feel good and when she asks for something and doesn't get it, she cries, which creates more "boogies", then her screaming "boogies" and we start the process all over again.

Logan is mellow and takes his sister's hyperness with relaxed easy. He is such a fantastic baby and I can't stand how much I love him.

Me - I am pretty good as long as I have sleep. I can get quite reflective and feel my emotions for my family extra deeply recently. I told Matt yesterday that I didn't want Logan to grow up, but I remember feeling the same way about Kara at this time. I blame it on hormones and the love you can feel for a child.

So enough of the emotions as it will send me into dwelling and feeling too sentimental, which with the rain clouds and dark cloudy skies equals what it equals.

In the next couple weeks, I hope to be up to date with the blog of what has happened in the past 2 months. That is my goal, but can change as it takes a bit of time to feed kids, play with them, put them to bed, hangout with Matt, house work, cleaning, exercising, etc.

So have fun reading and looking at pictures as they come.

Last adventures before baby arrives

Went to my doctor's appointment on Wednesday, March 18th and asked her if we could move my induction date up to Monday, March 23rd instead of March 27th.  She said that would be great, so I went about the next 5 days trying to keep busy and finish up the last minute things on my list.

After my appointment, Kara and I went to my mom's for the evening as Matt was going to start his work week. It was also her birthday, so Kara and I took her out to dinner and told her the new baby would be here on Monday.

On March 19th, Kara and I went over to Kali's to hangout with her and Leili. They played really well together and it was the first time I let Kara play in the backyard without me being outside with her. Can't wait for our backyard to be finished!

Leili putting the bucket on Kara' head.

On March 20th, Kara and I went on a shopping trip to purchase last minute items. We also went to a store with a Dumbo and she wanted to ride it. Turned out, I actually had 25 cents, so she flew on Dumbo and was very excited to see her dad to tell him when he woke up from sleeping.

We also watched a movie that night and Kara decided my belly would make a good arm rest.

Ready or Not...a baby will be here on March 23rd!
