So it has been almost two years since Matt and I decided to try and adopt. Most people don't know what the adoption process is or how it goes, so I wanted to write about it.
We went to the first adoption class on Halloween 2008. That seems like so long ago. We decided to go forward and get our adoption process started. We are adopting through LDS Family Services as the Church helps with the cost of adoption and raising the money for Private Adoption is really a long journey and can be financially risky.
The process starts with paying a deposit, so the Home Study can be completed. Our case worker interviewed Matt and I together and individually. She visited our home to make sure it would be safe for a child, and we had to have referrals from friends, family, and our bishop. We also had to complete alot of questions and compile a birth parent letter, photos, interesting facts about us, just to name a few. We completed background checks, a two day adoption course (where we saw my cousins who were also adopting that we didn't know about), and even finger printing.
It takes alot to get approved as a couple for adoption, but we finally got our approval and were posted one the ItsaboutLove website with more than 900 LDS couples nation wide.
Now the wait for our Little One!.....Still waiting, hoping, and praying for our Little One and for our Birth Mom to find us.
As we wait, we still live, and laugh with each other, and plan for the future, and HOPE!!!
HOPE stands for Heaven Opens Promises Everyday! We can't wait for the day when Heaven Opens is promise to us on our very special day when we get to bring home our Little One!

New Calling....Young Women's President
Today I was sustained as the Young Women's President of my ward. A little scary as I don't know what to do, but I already know most of the Young Women as I coached them in basketball last year.
I will do a lot of reading and praying to have help along with a great group of women I will get to serve with. Don't really know any of them, but had great feelings about each one.

The Desk Hunt
K. Matt started back to school. He no longer has the basement of our house to study in, so we had to find him a desk, so he wouldn't take up the entire front room. So I went on a search for a desk. It wasn't much fun as we didn't want to spend too much, but still wanted a desk that would be long enough for Matt to use the computer and lay his 9 books on. Well after two weeks of searching KSL.com and a dozen other sites for desks, I found one at the D.I. I walked in and it was just sitting there to purchase just for me. $75.00. Yes a great desk and it met all the qualifications that I was looking for and it was only $75.00.
I even took a picture of it I was so pleased with my find.

Now I just need to find a flat screen monitor that doesn't cost $200.00, an office chair, and an internet service that isn't a fortune.
With Matt in school at Weber and getting a Bachelor in MRI and CT at the same time he spends alot of time at clinicals, work, or homework. Once in a while I get to see him other than bedtime or the occasional date. 16 months to go!!

Monson Family Fun
We got together for some Monson Family fun while Mitch and Libby and the boys were in town from California.
We went to Kristen's House for a swim party. The boys decided to pull the tramp close to the swimming pool and jump in. Well I mean flip into the pool. Here are a few pictures of their fun.

Sam had some very nice form.

Matt was a little big, but joined in the fun anyway!

Nate was a little daredevil just like his brother, Sam.

Camping at Smith and More House
We went camping with our friends, Turkey & Alan - their two kids, Robbie and Daxton, and Amber Dawn & Mike - their daughter Hannah.
We all had different schedules, so we just met up at our campsite. Matt and I stopped at the cemetery in Peoa to take a picture of a very interesting headstone that my friend Jeremy had shown be years before. Take a look!

We also some deer, a mom and two baby deer.

We set up camp when everyone arrived and had fun. We went on walks, played card games, went fishing, rafted in the lake, and enjoyed the rain storm. Few pictures of our fun!

Amber Dawn likes to stick out her tongue while having her picture taken so she can see if it will grow.

Daxton fell asleep while everyone was fishing...he didn't sleep very well the night before and his sister Robbie is trying to be quit.

I took Hannah and Robbie out on the raft one at a time as we only had one life jacket for them. before Matt went out fishing. Hannah is helping me row. It was really windy, but it was a good thing we were tied to the shore as we had to help to get back in.

No one was really having any luck fishing from the shore so Matt wanted to take the raft out and try his luck. Well Matt has no luck fishing when he is on the raft. One of the oars decided to fall into the lake. So he was out on the lake with only one oar with heavy winds. We had to wait for him to drift ashore. Really bad luck for him! But it was funny!

One thing that saved the kids from boredom was the hammock that Mike had put up. The kids spent hours playing on it. Here are all three together.

During the rain storm, we put Robbie and Hannah in a tent to watch a movie. They ended up falling asleep eventually and had to be woken up for dinner.
We had a lot of fun with our friends and plan to go camping next year. Hopefully it won't rain though, but since Matt and I are going it probably will.

Family for a Week
No pictures for this event. We had my niece, Arlee, for a week while her parents went to Disneyland and California for a getaway.
We got her on Sunday morning right before church. We packed her in the car and headed off church at 9am. We taught our primary lesson to our 5 & 6 year old class. The kids were pretty good and so was Arlee until Singing time and Sharing time. She got hungry so I took her out and feed her before sacrament started.
We made it through sacrament meeting, but Arlee fell asleep for 40 minutes and then did not want to take a nap after church like I planned. We spent the day at my mom's for dinner and Arlee only wanted me even with my mom/her grandma around. Made me feel like a mom! Yep that felt great!
So other highlights - Arlee slept great the first night, horrible the second night because she decided to throw her Binky on the ground. The third night, we put at least 6 Binkys in the crib with her, she slept wonderful from the rest of the nights.
I had to work, so I would take her to my mom's so she could babysit. Let me tell you I did NOT like that at all. I want to give kudos to all the working moms. It sucks to have to work and raise a family! Get them ready, send them to the sitters, pick them up, make dinner, play for like 10 seconds, and then put them to bed! Not much fun being a mom with that schedule.
We had fun with Arlee and I especially missed her saying Mama every ten seconds for something she wanted, but had no idea the right words.
Matt and I can't wait for our little one, where every he or she is!

Bear Lake
I have missed a couple of fun events that have happened in the past 3 weeks while we have been getting Matt ready for Weber State.
We went to Bear Lake with our friends, David and Kristen, and their girls, Grace and Kate.

We stopped at the outlook over Bear Lake for a bathroom break for everyone and stopped and got a picture of Matt, me, and the girls. David even teased we rented a family for the picture. We love their little girls.

Also I got a picture of a humming bird next to the bird feeder. Matt likes our sister-in-laws philosophy about animal pictures, "Why take a picture when I can see them in a book?" But I took a picture anyway.
We then help set up their campsite. No trees and lots of weeds. Not the best place for camping with little girls, but the beach made up for it. We went to the beach as soon as possible as it was hot. The girls liked the beach more than the water, but who could blame them the sand was fun to play in.

We only stayed for the day, because we had our niece, Arlee the next morning, while her parents went on vacation.
